From a variety of backgrounds, SSA instructors are all qualified to instruct students towards a number of different pilot certificates!
I arrived late to aviation. I was 36 years old and decided to change careers and become a professional pilot. I took my training at ATP in Jacksonville, FL. I arrived the first week of May 2008 and completed the course the first week of February 2009. Upon completion I had acquired both single and multi-engine instrument instructor licenses.
Due to the economic downturn beginning in 2008 I returned to Virginia to stay with family while beginning my job search. While sending out resumes I decided I needed to fly occasionally to stay proficient. I came to Shannon Airport and met with Jim Stover and found out he was in need of a flight instructor at JLS Aviation. I was in luck. I took the position and still continue to instruct here today.
Over those years I have fallen in love with Shannon Airport and JLS. I have been able to fly with many people and helped them achieve their goals in aviation, developing many lasting friendships along the way. I look forward to many new flying adventures and continuing to help people achieve their flying goals.
I grew up in Northern Virginia and moved down to Fredericksburg in high school. I've always been passionate about aviation. When I was nine years old, I took a flight to California to see some family. It was the first time I remember being on an airplane. Everything about it captivated me, and I knew from then on I wanted to fly.
When I was 14 I joined the Civil Air Patrol as a cadet to learn more about aviation. I graduated Stafford High School in 2021 and started flight training a few months after. I did flight training at ATP and at RVA Flyers in Richmond. After working in Richmond for a while, I came to Shannon in August of 2023. I am currently working towards my ATP. My hobbies include playing accordion and mountain biking. My favorite plane is the Pilatus PC-12.
Shannon has since become like a second home to me. I am committed to providing professional instruction and hope to share the beauties and joys of aviation with my students.
I am from Stafford, Virginia and have loved aviation my entire life! My grandfather flew for Pan American Airlines and I always wanted to join him. I graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2020 with a degree in mathematics and a degree in psychology. From there I moved out West to California and worked in accounting, only to find that the 9-5 life was not for me! I completed my flight training in Napa, California, and Redmond, Oregon and have moved back home to be closer to family. My hobbies include historical reenactment, playing the piano, hiking, and dancing.
I truly enjoy teaching and respect anyone who has the guts to follow what they really want to do. My desire is to connect with each of my students and teach them safety and efficiency, while showing them the utter joy of taking flight. My favorite part of flying is the moment of takeoff, and my favorite airplane is a Cessna Caravan. Blue skies and tailwinds!
